Benefits of the SuperBIOS (UPDATE 2)

BENEFIT #1
----------------
Mitsurugi-w compiled a CD with original sets that can be used by the people that have working NOCD CPS3 sets and can't make an update if a SIMM erases or if they want to change game. This can be done, by using a 2nd cartridge with SuperBios and updating the SIMMS. It can be taken even a step further and with the proper CD could be used to change the Game even in NOCD sets. You all have the tool, right?

The version that he compiled has Revision A of JOJO1, JOJO2, Warzard, NG, 2I and 3S.  Also, Revison B of 3S.

And here are the instructions: http://www.mediafire.com/?htx6mgw64h3howk

Enjoy and thank Mitsurugi-w for his contribution.

BENEFIT #2
----------------
It can write CPS2 Black SIMMS, so you can recover your dead games now or change the game inside your Black CPS2.

If you need such a service, contact Mitsurugi-w in the forums.

For some reason clicking the link does not work.

      Try this:

I see why, the instances of the exclamation marks are replaced with %21 when clicking the link. :S

Works perfect on IE and Mozilla. You should be probably using Chrome. I doubled checked the link and it's correct as it is.

Found on the net thought that:

"Currently MEGA is optimized for desktop browsers and you can see some more information about why we recommend Mozilla Firefox in particular here: https://mega.co.nz/#blog_12. If you have any difficulties with uploads or downloads install our MEGA extension 1.0.3 (Tools - Add-on's).
Our second preferred browser Google Chrome still has a memory problem and works best on 64-bit operating systems. "

    Just to understand this right:
If I had a CPS2 black All-in-one, what games would I be able to play on this thing with the SIMM-rewrite-per-CPS3-method?
And is there anything else to do but rewrite the SIMM?
I always thought there were things like Palette-chips and rewiring to perform cps2 conversions...?

The pal on the all-in-one seems to work with a wide variety of games. And game can be written to the SIMM and will boot, but the graphics and sound can be messed up. Most I have been able to fix by adjusting jumper settings. But some games just can't be made to work properly using the onboard PAL. Finding a solution to that would be a job for someone smarter than me.

I personally tested Alpha3, Vampire Savior, Marvel Super Heroes, X-men, and DD: TOD. The only one I could not get to work was Dungeons and Dragons.

Might be a dumb request, but could you try to give progear and hyperSF a try...?

      OMG, thanks!
If hyperSF also works, I'm gonna get a black board immediately.
Can somebody compile all the jumper-settings for the games?

Any game that uses a G pal on the regular b boards will definitely work. I don't want to release the jumper settings in order to curb the amateur bootleggers. But honestly, it's only 4 jumpers. It isn't hard to figure it out via trial and error.

So I basically got two CPS III boards with Warzard and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Japanese with batteries not removed). I also have Warzard's original disc along with the CD drive and the connections too.

So my question is this- I want to remove the batteries from the cartridges, but also want to boot the games in the regions (Japanese, English, etc) with the original CD (no Jojo's CD). Would this be even possible?

I am very new to this, and I hope that I can find some answers to play these games!

There is no way to play with original disks without a working cart. Please don't kill the carts if they are working. If you want, I will trade you an SH-2 cart for your battery-powered carts.

I caught what I said in the comments here, and want to clarify that prior information:

I have working carts (allegedly) of both games. I would like to phoenix both of the cartridges, so they can run without the suicide batteries in them, and boot up in the different regions. In other words, I don't want to worry about these games ever dying out for my personal use.

I wouldn't mind having the boot up CD for both games, as that would be the only way, but if it's possible, I would love to have it boot up with the original CD, since I'd like to have the original software to be stable with each other.

If there was any way to mod the carts to do this, I would send them out, but I would like to wait ATM, but not too long though. I like the idea of the SH-2 cart, but don't like the idea that I have to give up both cartridges. So would I get them back modified so I don't have to worry about any batteries? Is it even possible to play the original game on the original cartridge (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure plays on a Jojo's BA cart)?

They would play any game but they would not boot with the original disk. Once the game is loaded onto the motherboard, the disk is only used for booting. I think it would boot with an original 3S disk, once any game has been installed with the multi-disk, since the bios are based off of 3S. Not sure though.

So in other words, from what I'm understanding, it is possible for the following my existing carts:

Remove the suicide battery and not worry about it killing the game(s) again
Freely change the region on each boot up with just the cartridge or cart+CD
Have only one specific game to the cartridge (JOJOBA on JOJOBA cart, etc)

I am trying to understand the whole process you and Darksoft are doing, so I apologize if some of the questions become repetitive.

Not quite. This bios is a multibios. It has the capability of loading ANY game onto the motherboard. But only one game at a time can be loaded. With this bios you will select which region you want to play EVERY TIME you boot the pcb. The only cartridge that can run it's original game without a battery and without a modified bios is 2nd Impact.

There is no way to change your cartridge to just be a single game that uses original CDs. If your cart is dead, you can change it to the SuperBIOS but it will require using a special CD.

Please don't kill those working carts. We can work out a deal if you like.

      Mitsurugi-w,

I'll still have more questions, but for now, I'll get a hold of you privately. I contacted you as BCWolf35 on youtube, so I'll send you a message with my actual e-mail address, and we can work on something. How does that sound?

Do you think that a CPS2 Multicart should block the Phoenix Romsets?
